Remember that plus quilt that didn’t need to get finished yet? I ended up binding it so it wasn’t even on the table anymore, and I feel so much better! Ha! It was well worth the priority shuffle, though. I love how it turned out!
I used the free Plus Quilt tutorial on For The Love of George, and after doing some math on the cuts and such, realized that my 10 FQ bundle of Boardwalk Delight Fabrics (by Dana Willard of Made Everyday) would be the perfect amount of fabric, and the perfect fabric for this pattern! The blocks are big enough to really show off the prints, and it is really simple to put together to boot.
I was so excited about Dana’s first line of fabrics, and it was a blast sewing with these during some rainy, dreary days! I quilted it with my walking foot in a simple diagonal cross-hatch pattern, and it is backed in a boring sheet from Target, so I didn’t even bother getting pictures of that. It is bound in a great Scallop Dot in Black by Rae Richie for Dear Stella.
My kids, of course, didn’t complain when I asked them to be part of my finished quilt photo shoot. “Oh, you want me to have ice cream? I guess I’ll help, mom, just this once.”
This quilt is a great crib size, and currently keeps my 3rd daughter warm on her toddler bed! It’s been hauled all over the house, though, and already needed washing twice. This is why I make quilts! I love when my kids love my quilts.
Working on anything fun lately? I’d love to hear about it!
