This Bughouse quilt was made AGES ago, but I sent it off to its recipient before I had a chance to really get some photos. Luckily, when our family was stuck between the US and France, we stayed with my in-laws where the quilt lives too!
This was the sample quilt I made when writing the pattern, and it is actually a size that didn’t make it on the pattern. It’s between a twin and throw, so it wasn’t quite useful to include.
The fabric is Serendipity, an older line through Riley Blake Designs.
I had a longarm quilter give it the final quilting, and it took awhile… so the pattern was released before this even made it back to me! It was a bit frustrating, but I also didn’t ask the lead time when I sent it off. 3 months is too long for me!
Bughouse uses on-point blocks. I’m actually designing two more patterns right now (that will be released.. in a year or so ha ha) that are on-point, I guess it’s something I need to get out of my system for a bit!
It always feels good to revisit past quilts.
The quilting is tighter than I normally choose too, but it actually works! It gives the quilt lots of structure.
The limbo time between Arizona and France was a struggle for me- I really had a hard time not knowing when we’d leave, especially since the timetable changed every week. Having the quilt already there to welcome me on the guest bed was so comforting, like a piece of home. Quilts are magical things!

More please! I love on point blocks. Like little diamonds! Riley Blake fabric is always a winner!
