A friend of mine contacted me recently requesting a quilt block for some special young women. She has the responsibility of helping plan the summer youth Girl’s Camp for her congregation, and their theme this year was “Connect with God and Detect the Truth.” Her idea was to spin a block based on “detecting” and discovering, and asked for a pieced magnifying glass so she could make some quilted bags. Of course I jumped at the opportunity!
I made a few test blocks to see how it would turn out- and this isn’t even the final block, it has been simplified in that tricky neck section since this version. I had the most fun with this one and the two text prints- I specifically went looking for a small print, and a larger print, so it would have the effect of being magnified! Cool, huh? Disregard the fact that one is in French, and the other is German ๐ Amazing what you see under magnification, eh? ๐ ๐
The glass block is 7 1/2″, and then for this demo I put a 2″ border around it. This is so fun, and would be neat with large and small animal prints, leaves and flowers… anything with a small and large scale!
If you ever find yourself needing a magnifying glass quilt block, go ahead and snag it below:

Thank you Charity for asking me to help with this! It was a real treat!
That is so cute! I love the large and small prints!
