I love donuts. I love carbs, and sugar, so of course I love donuts. And when I can’t eat one, I’ll definitely take the opportunity to sew one!
This is a FREE (!!!) pattern on Craftsy from Lindsey Neill (@penandpaperpatterns on IG if you want beautiful sewing inspiration). I wanted to make one of these since the day she posted her first donut, and so I made 2 😉 I chose a Cotton + Steel print that had the “sprinkle” look already so I didn’t have to do it by hand. I’m a cheater. Cheater, Cheater, Donut Eater.
The pattern has really great instructions, including some photos for the steps. You need to know how to do applique (which, if you look at my donut centers, I definitely need to work on that), and make/use bias binding. There are instructions for doing both, but it helps if you know how already!
Something I’ve found with home made pot holders is that the Insul-Brite isn’t the best on its own. I usually either double the Insul-brite or I add a layer of batting. I did that with these, and then I decided that since they were so CUTE there was no way I was going to let them be used 🙂 so they are hanging adorably in my sewing room instead. I don’t know if making a non-cute set is even possible, but I think I’ll try again so I can use those ha ha!
So there you go! And I know you want to make these now, especially with the holidays coming up! Wouldn’t these make the best gift to your favorite baker? Thought so.

Cutest little hot pads ever, and I love the Halloween printable too!
Those are really, really cute! And clever you using pre-sprinkled fabric. 😉 (I have a fabric with actual sprinkles on it that would be PERFECT for this… I’m just not sure how big the scraps I have are!)
Ha, anything to speed up the process! 😉
Thank you Kara!
SO SO CUTE!! And the free print is adorable!! Thank you!!
