I’ve made and gifted many baby quilts in my time, and one of my favorites was a primary-colored Double Crossed quilt (pattern by Diary of a Quilter) I made almost 8 years ago. When I got my Pure Delight fabric line, it basically NEEDED to end up as a Double Crossed quilt! I definitely waited too long between Double Crossed quilts!
One of the best parts of this quilt was that it used every print from my fabric line- the white “background” fabric is just the white/gray grid print! It was one of the happiest quilts I have ever made. Plus, bonus, since the fabric is turned this way and that, you don’t really need to worry about directional prints and can just be happy however it lands in the quilt. I love that 🙂
As for quilting, since it is a baby size (a generous baby size! perfect for growing up with) I was able to quilt it on my own domestic machine. I have a 6″ throat space so I’m always happy when a baby quilt is in the queue 🙂 saves my arms quite a bit!
While I designed this fabric line with girls specifically in mind (my own girls, actually!) I have to admit that this household is partial to blue and this line reps that blue! I used the main print in blue on the back, and used the dark navy scallop as the binding. It fulfilled every fun baby quilt dream!
The irony of sharing this Pure Delight quilt today is that I’m deep into preparing to share my next fabric line with you during the Virtual Quilt Market by Riley Blake Designs. Can’t wait to share more of that!
Happy quilting!
