Wow, you guys. This quilt has been a looooong time coming! I started writing it a few months ago, finally made time for it after the Shieldmaiden Quilt, and after a very long drive, got the pictures I wanted for the cover of the pattern. The things we do for quilts, right?!
I am an impulse fabric buyer, but not on a large scale. If I see a line I like but can’t buy the whole shebang, I often just grab a Charm Pack. My problem is that I can’t do much with a single charm pack, since most patterns call for at least 2 to complete a quilt top. I wanted to make a quilt that was single-charm pack friendly, a decent size, and was still a fun design. The end result was this little ditty, and I just love it!
Amazingly, this quilt results in leftover squares from your Charm Pack! What?! I know! I love a scrappy look, and this fabric line (Desert Bloom for Moda) was great with the combination of small pieces and a blank background. This pattern is also great for scraps, because of its scrappy nature. It is also the perrrrrrfect baby size (49 1/2″ square), and a very quick sew! I can’t think of a better quilt combination.
This pattern is in the same layout as all my other quilt patterns (except in color, because I was feeling colorful!), and is available linked below. I hope you get good use out of it! Don’t be afraid to grab those single charm packs anymore 😉
