When I’m looking for a quick-and adorable- quilt project, I turn to Lucky Toss . This best-selling quilt pattern is a favorite because it uses 2 1/2″ x WOF precuts (Jelly Roll) and is just so fast! It is also perfect for beginners, so I have a lot of new quilters snap this one up.
A friend of mine had been holding onto a fabric roll for a while, and when she realized she’d never get to using it, she offered it to me! I love friends who share 😉 Conveniently, another friend of mine was expecting a baby girl, so I whipped up this quilt using contributions from the both of us.
This pattern calls for 20 2 1/2″ strips, and while Moda Jelly Rolls are consistently 21 strips, the old Riley Blake rolls are a little less consistent and this roll only had 18. Because of that, I had to omit the final row of blocks and make this quilt square. Even without the last row, the quilt is still a comfortable baby size and is big enough to grow with its recipient for a while! I used the leftover strip scraps to make a couple 4×4 patchwork blocks to put on the backing, along with a hexi print I found at JoAnn Fabrics.
The main fabric I used was the Fine and Dandy line by Lori Whitlock for Riley Blake Designs. It is an older line, and I was lucky to find a shop on Etsy that had some yardage still! Lori Whitlock is probably my hero for cutesy fabric lines. She has such fun, bright, girly prints in her collections and I love them so much! I hope that baby girl loves the cheerful colors as much as I do!
Adorable baby quilt and puzzling that some companies wouldn’t be consistent in their jelly rolls.
