It’s here! The first of THREE new patterns I released today (one of which is absolutely FREE!) is this perfectly playful Popsicle Parade Quilt Pattern. Warning: LOTS of absolutely delightful pictures ahead!
The idea came for this one while talking about parades, and how they are one of our favorite things about small-town holiday celebrations in the summer. In parades, everyone goes BIG on decorating their floats and cars, so naturally I had to go BIG on these popsicles!
One of the perks- in my opinion- of big popsicles is that the curves are easier to sew. Curves are not that hard- I promise!- but having extra room to maneuver fabric and fingers is always a plus.
This quilt comes in THREE sizes, so you can make a decent sized baby/crib quilt, a throw, and even a twin size quilt! Wouldn’t this be so fun on a bed? I can see how a whole room can be decorated around this theme.
For my baby quilt I made, I used print fabrics, and these pictures don’t do it justice for how cute it turned out.
The baby size uses only 5 fat quarters, plus yardage for borders and background, so it is a good quilt option if you are like me and don’t have a big stash of fabric! The throw size quilt used just solids, and I mixed the popsicle colors within their own color families. So many great manufacturers carry their own lines of solids that match print fabric collections perfectly- so I’d love to make this in a mix of prints and solids!
I hope you love this fun popsicle quilt as much as I do!!! It has been so fun to sew, and the quilting- oh the quilting!- that echoes the look of popsicle sticks was just the icing on the quilty goodness cake.
Snag this pattern in my shop!
Stay tuned for a FREE Quilt Pattern!
Gah, I can’t handle the cuteness! I’m not a quilter, and I have absolutely no reason to buy the pattern… but it’s pulling me in!! Hey, how cute would a row of the blocks be turned into a little skirt?!
I saw you bought one and I was like, what???? Ha ha! Thank you Charity! I am planning on a mini quilt too- that would make an ADORABLE border on a skirt!!
Oh my goodness, this is absolutely darling! I would just want to hang it on my wall!
Thank you Kara! Here’s a secret: It’s totally hanging on a wall, ha ha! Thank goodness for lack of wall decorations 😉
How big are each of the popsicle blocks? Looking for a quilt border like this.
Hi Karen, the blocks are quite big! 8.5″ x 15.5″
I picture this with one upside down! No matter how or where I give my boys ice cream – one lands upside down. Okay the dog needs a treat too!
Super table runner or 2 rows for a picnic table cloth! Oh this is a great pattern!
