A few weeks ago I searched my blog looking for this Triangle Peaks quilt, and didn’t find it. Turns out, I forgot to share it with everyone! Today is a good a day as any to remedy that!
Triangle Peaks is a great beginner pattern by Emily Dennis. Don’t let the triangle shapes scare you- they are really easy, I promise! The size of the blocks are great too, since you can really showcase largescale or favorite prints. I was going for a more masculine quilt here, so my prints were all pretty subtle.
I made this quilt in record time when a friend of ours was diagnosed with cancer. His wife posted a picture of him during treatments and he had this sad, super small and thin blanket to keep warm… which, as every respectable quilter knows, cannot remain the case. I dug through my stash and found blue and gray prints, grabbed the pattern, and got to work. Three days later I dropped it off at our friends’ house and his next treatment was much warmer 🙂
Now that its been awhile, I am happy to report that our friend is doing well and is cancer-free! His wife told me that this quilt was their official “cancer quilt” which could be a good thing or a bad thing 😉 but part of me hopes they boxed this quilt up and put it away now that the difficult trial is over! I am always so happy when my gifted quilts serve a purpose, whether its just to cover a bed, act as a playmat for babies, or to keep someone warm during chemo.
