Wishy Washy has been, and always will be, one of my favorite quick patterns to make. When another of my friends was expecting recently, I set out to make a baby quilt but couldn’t find good “boy” fabric anywhere here. It was all very feminine everywhere I looked, so when Rachel Erickson of Citrus and Mint Designs said she was coming to Paris, I asked her to bring some of her ROAR fabric! It was going to be the perfect solution to my project dilemma.
Even better, after I finished the quilt top I had enough leftover fabric to piece together a coordinating backing and also bind the quilt. I couldn’t have wished for a better match!
After I finished, this quilt needed some extraordinary photos, so my youngest daughter and I took a trip to the Natural History museum here in Paris and toured the Paleontology exhibit with a quilt in tow.
Of course, everything about this fabric was so much fun. I loved looking at all the fun dinosaurs and the text and the bones as I cut into the fabrics to make this quilt! It is such a good fabric line.
We visited the museum, which is built like a giant greenhouse with the glass ceiling, during a heat wave. People stared. 🙂
I like to think everyone was admiring the adorable quilt we were holding, and not wondering why my daughter was draped in a “blanket” on one of the warmest days of the summer.
This museum was small, but packed full of exhibits! We saw some really cool things, and some things that grossed out my 9-year-old (it’s also a comparative biology museum, so we got to see lungs and intestines and all kinds of guts, I thought she’d think it was cool, but she requested we leave that part of the museum quickly, ha!), but it was without a doubt the best place to snap a photo or two of this Roar Wishy Washy quilt!
I suppose one of the perks of the heat was that the museum wasn’t too crowded! It was a beautiful building, albeit warm, and it was the perfect setting for all these ancient bones. Also, for new textiles featuring dino bones 🙂
The quilt has been gifted, and is already being loved on by two little boys!
I will miss our wonderful friends here in Paris! I’m glad I got to leave a little piece of me behind.
By the time you see this post, I’ll have my feet back on US soil and I’ll be busy getting moved into a new rental home! It will be a busy time, but a sewing space is top priority. I’ll need a bit of sanity to turn to at the end of my busy days, so hopefully I have more for you soon!
Happy Quilting 🙂
